After reading The Pen Addict's Kaweco Liliput Brass Body Fountain Pen review last week, I found myself over on the Newton Pens site looking for possible answers to my persistent Kaweco nib dissatisfaction issues.
I never did figure out what the heck I want to do about my Kaweco, but I did stumble upon something pretty cool that Shawn Newton does: the 2015 Newton Pens Scholarship.
In a nutshell:
- You send Shawn $10 (or more) via PayPal.
- He e-mails you back an entry number.
- At the end of June, he draws one person to win a 100 percent custom-made fountain pen, right down to their preferred nib grind.
- Shawn gives the money raised away to kids as scholarships.
I have no affiliation or relationship with Shawn, but I think this is a pretty cool and generous idea. I was also moved by the background story about why he does it.
I'm in for $10. You have until Saturday, June 28 to reduce my chances of winning. I hope you do.
