Here are a few of my favorite observations from Micro.blog this week:
Shared Niche Interests Surfacing
While most early Micro.blog users share a common interest in blogging tools and philosophies, it was fun to see a little more discussion about shared niche interests this week. For example, there seems to be a lot of overlap in the Venn Diagram of early Micro.blog users and pen, pencil, and paper enthusiasts.
I liked seeing @craigmcclellan and @cm share their excitement over the Studio Neat Panobook shipping, as well as checking out @jack’s kick-ass pencil sharpener.
New User Discovery Tricks
Finding new users to follow on Micro.blog is a bit of a dark art right now, but we gained a couple of new tricks this week. In the new Micro.blog Mac app, if you click on a user’s profile, you can see a list of users they follow. Manton mentioned that this feature will be coming to the web and iOS apps at some point as well.
@colinwalker took things a step further by tweaking and re-enabling a feature on his blog that allows you to view a list of people who have interacted with his site through either webmentions or Micro.blog.
Microcast Mania
It was cool to see some additional microcasts start or re-start this week. Fragmentum from @adamprocter and Sync in Progress by @zak are a couple that found their way to my player, but I think I may have missed at least one other.
